Why It is Needed

On Aug 25th Brittanie Shepherd had an accident while on approach to a climb in the Lower Gorge area of Smith Rock. (Read The News Story Here)

With no insurance and significant road to recovery ahead she needs all the love (and to be honest) money that she can get to ensure she has a full and healthy recovery

Our combined efforts and donation can help ensure that she does not have to skimp on any physical therapy or other treatment needed for a FULL recovery.

What It Will Help Cover

While the overall cost of the Hospital stay and rescue are another topic all together your funds can help with the following immediate needs that require cash

  • Prescriptions
  • Physical Therapy
  • Cell Phone (So she can stay connected)
  • Rent
  • Bills
  • Other items we don't even realize yet

Anything as small as $5 can help add up and make a difference. I think we can all spare that cup of coffee a few times a week

Why PayPal

We chose to use PayPal because it is immediate. If you make a donation now, Britt can have the funds in her account and using it within 15 mins.

You DO NOT need a Paypal account to make a donation. If you don't have an account simply use a credit or debit card

If this is not possible and you would still like to make a contribution feel free to contact Ash Shepherd (ash@seekoei.com)and he can help you out.

Ongoing Support

It is easy to be show concern and show support while the accident is fresh in our mind it is important to remember that Britt's recovery will be going on long after the story has faded from the newspaper

Please remember to check back and make donations whenever you can

I can gaurentee that Britt will be thinking of all fo you and your support everyday. The least we can do is that when we find out minds wandering to her and wondering how she is doing we should do two things:

  1. Drop her a line to say you are thinking of her
  2. Skip that cup of coffee and pitch in a few bucks to make sure her recovery goes as quickly as possible

The accident may have only happened to her but we can all be apart of the recovery

Special Mentions

We would like to mention a couple of folks that have really gone above and beyond to help us get the word out about this little project and help share Britt's story.

New approach to PT with Rebound

I have been working extremely hard over the past few months in the gym regaining strength in my body, primarily targeting the muscles in my back around my broken vertebrae. As I have been getting back out and trying to enjoy some outdoor activities I am quickly reminded how weak my ankle with the screws in it is, so I have sought out some additional help with physical therapy through REBOUND in Bend. I’ve been set up with an extensive amount of exercises targeting my hips, glutes, quads and ankle and I am looking forward to a very strong ankle soon. After all, this girl has some long face climbs to attack soon in Smith!

THIS GIRLS CLIMBING AGAIN!

Oh what a monumental day in the life of Britt! Yesterday I met one of my ultimate goals in recovery....to climb again! 7 months after lying in the bottom of the Lower Gorge, very close to losing my life, I decided it was time to let my fingers reconnect with the beautiful rock of Smith. Although, it was a very mellow day, working through some very serious physical and mental hurdles, it felt incredible to be in the environment I love most. I was accompanied by Mike Rowley, my climbing partner who was there the night of my accident and his supportive energy was amazing. I absolutely could NOT have done this without the support of all of you...thank you!!!

Getting out there and feeling human again

Today I got into my first restorative yoga class since the accident and my mind, back, and soul was loving it! I am looking forward to attending regularly and stretching out and releasing some of those muscles that have been so angry the last 6 months. I also have been able to get out for some shorter hikes around the Bend area, which is truely making me feel alive again! Thank you all for the continued support and motivation to keep my hiney in gear towards recovery.

Support The Britt Fund

On August 25th Brittanie Shepherd took a 70-foot fall on approach to a climb in the Lower Gorge at Smith Rock.  While she was lucky that the injuries were not more serious she did sustain a number of injuries to her ankle, back and head that will take a while to recover from.

As if all this was not hard enough to be dealing with Britt also has to deal with all that comes with being uninsured.  Aside from the immediate cost related to hospital stays and surgeries there will be the ongoing cost of prescriptions, physical therapy and the every day costs of rent, etc.  We promise she won't spend it on gear.

In an effort to help support Britt as best we can we are asking those that can to make a donation to help cover the cost of some of these items.  Our hope is to help her get healthy as quick as possible and back to doing what she loves with all of you.

All funds will go directly to Britt and her immediate needs for recovery.  Any additional questions you can feel from to contact Ash Shepherd ,Britt's Older Brother, at ash@seekoei.comThis e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

On Behalf of all of Britt's Family & Friends we thank you for your ongoing and continued support.
